Wouldn't you like to know? 😉
We would say this gets at value. And so we'd ask, "where would you like that focused? Is that value in a product you offer? From novelty or insight that you'd like to provide through content?" There is no right or wrong answer. But answering this would be the first step in our journey together. Every project is unique and needs to be justified in its approach.
Papertown was founded in Los Angeles, CA in 2011. We are officially in the process of moving "back" to Nashville by 2022 ("back" in quotes as Nashville was the home of Julian Smith Productions in the early 2000s). We are still offering our full range of services in both areas--and anywhere else for that matter!--in the meantime.
Is there value in it that we can help you bring to life? Everything we do is custom. For some clients, we offer straight production services. For others, we lead the entire creative, production and marketing effort (what we call "360° Support"). So, probably! We'd love to hear what you're up to and what you're hoping to achieve.
Does your thing have value? Tell us where to be and when.
Absolutely, in a lot of cases.
In 2016, Julian Smith, Founder & ECD of Papertown, former YouTuber, abruptly disappeared from all social platforms; Grew a gnarly beard, got a flip phone and experimented living without internet. We assure you that Julian is alive and well and hope that is obvious through the innovative work Papertown is doing.
Here is some context: Julian grew up in Nashville, TN making videos every weekend of his preteens, started a video production service before he was able to drive, and then accidentally became one of the first ever influencers through his scripted cinematic YouTube content dating back to 2006.
Amongst the first wave of digital content to ever be monetized, predating even algorithms--when the internet at large was still curated by humans!--Papertown started getting calls from top brands. As the space matured, Julian realized he was a hermit and enjoyed being behind the camera more so than in front. He fired his agents at WME and most of his digital representation and moved to Nashville. Over time, Papertown evolved from his entertainment company to the one-stop content shop that it is today.
We believe any sufficient Value Story creates a world on paper worth exploring. And that this is where everyone - no matter what they are making - should begin in their process.
It's par for the course with advertising. An ad might generate millions of organic views and conversions and the brand may still decide to make the link unlisted or private once the campaign has ended. This is entirely out of our hands. Once we deliver the project files, the client can do whatever they want with them! We keep good records so we can showcase our work no matter what happens.
Nope. We don't know what they mean by "Papertowns," nor can we recommend it as a creative process.
